Alani matriculated in 2016 from Epworth High School Pietermaritzburg, she is currently a second year Bachelor of Commerce student and her Core Discipline of study is Strategic Management. Her swimming career since 2016 has some amazing achievements which Alani, her parents and brother Daniel can be extremely proud of.
For SA Senior National aquatic championships in April 2016 she attained 4 A Rio Paralympic Games Qualifying times, then in Rio Paralympic Games 2016 she Broke 5 African S13 records, records as at National Swimming championships in April 2017 she achieved 2 A qualifying times. Things just got better, at the IPC world championships she broke 1 African S13 record, again at an IPC world championships December 2017 2 x 4th (100m Breastroke and 400m freestyle) 1x 5th (200m IM) and 1 x 6th (100m Butterfly)positions. There is just no stopping to her success, at SA National Championships in April 2019 she achieved 3 A qualifying times for Para swimming for World championships 2019 and at the Toyota SASAPD Championships March 2019 Broke 3 African Records. Currently Alani hold 5 African records for S13 and is the Disability representative on Swimming South Africa Athletes Committee.
